About the Editors

Ellen E. Anderson Penno, MD, MS, FRCSC, of Western Laser Eye Associates is an eye surgeon and author who has resided in the Calgary area for more than 10 years. Trained at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota with a refractive fellowship at the Gimbel Eye Centre in Calgary, Alberta, she has been practicing refractive surgery and general ophthalmology since 1996 and has performed thousands of surgeries on a variety of laser types. Dr. Anderson Penno is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.  

Writing has always been a part of Dr. Anderson Penno’s career. In addition to numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, she co-authored the book LASIK Complications with Dr. Howard Gimbel. Additional writing activities include articles for Salem Press and serving as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Anderson Penno lives and works in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and founded Western Laser Eye Associates in 2004.
