More Information

Tamerah N. Hunt, PhD, AT, received her undergraduate degree in athletic training from the University of Delaware. She received her master of science degree at James Madison University and continued to the University of Georgia where she received her doctorate in kinesiology. Following completion of her doctoral work, Dr. Hunt became an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate athletic training programs. Dr. Hunt currently works at The Ohio State University (OSU) as the Director of Research for the OSU Sports Concussion Program and as Assistant Professor of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Dr. Hunt was a high school athletic trainer for 4 years, during which she obtained first-hand experience with concussions and realized the lack of information available for allied health care professionals working in high schools. Her interest in this often medically neglected population triggered her research of concussions in high school athletes. As a researcher, Dr. Hunt focuses on youth concussion assessment and has worked with high school districts in Ohio, South Carolina, Georgia, and Maryland. Dr. Hunt examines high school recovery patterns, effort given to concussion assessment, comorbidities associated with concussion, and the educational intervention tools used in multiple populations. This research has led to grant funding to examine concussion in high school athletics.

Dr. Hunt is a former National Athletic Trainers’ Association Research and Education Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. She has authored various articles on concussion, youth injuries, and grade inflation and has given numerous regional, national, and international presentations as a guest speaker and clinician.
